What a gorgeous sunset!! Wow!
This is one of the most beautiful sunsets I have recently seen. The colors are simply brilliant; the water and horizon look like they’re on fire. When I see something as lovely as this, nothing else matters in the moment.
I love living close to the beach; it’s a blessing. I can find down time just a few minutes away and down time is crucial when life feels overwhelming. It’s good for me, to let go of the stimulation of the city and of my life. I can rest my mind and simply admire the sounds and sights of the ocean. It’s another way I can ‘meditate’ without feeling like I’m mediating. As you know, classic meditations don’t work well for me because I’m just not that grounded. Of course, this means I need to meditate more. It’s nice to know, I can find some way of getting into a calmer state of mind.
When I am watching a sunset like this, I come to a place where I am relaxed but focused. I can let go of my stress, anxiety and drama. Ideas and decisions come to me with ease; I don’t feel the fear and scarce mindset that I can get caught up in when my life feels overpowering. I can be in a state of daydream, introspection and imagination when I’m watching the sea and the sky.
Carolyn Gregoire, of The Huffington Post, wrote this great article on the benefits of being near the ocean water; it made a lot of sense to me. Check it out!
I also find this calm, focused mindset when I am doing Pilates. I have had great ideas come to me while I’m on the Reformer. It can be a meditation for me. It’s a moment when I let go of all the inner voices. I just focus on the movement, what I am feeling in my body. It’s one of the reasons why I love Pilates.
What do you do to find a state of calm and focus? Will you please share what works for you; I’d like to know. Go ahead, leave your comments below.
