The Appalachian Trail at Bear Mountain has quite a stunning view when you reach the summit. I was in awe of the magnificent picture because I’m a city girl. The view I usually see is a tall building, some blue sky, and people smoking on the rooftop. Three days, three different hikes and three different views, this was my favorite.
I just got back from a lovely vacation to upstate NY where I had a grand ‘ol time visiting with one of my best friends. We went on these great hikes everyday that were snippets of the Appalachian Trail which extends from Maine to Georgia. Needless to say I’m not much of a hiker; I’m more of a dancing’ kinda gal but there is something rewarding about making it to the summit, knowing you can’t get any higher.
It felt amazing to push myself, to feel my heart beating hard in my chest. I felt so alive. There is something to be said for connecting back with nature, climbing a mountain and finding yourself in a place that can only be discovered by an ascent on foot.
Don’t get me wrong, I want to get back down. I want to eat a delicious homemade meal and sleep in a comfy bed because I’m no backpacker. Remember, I’m a city girl.
